There is something to be said that Christianity has been a great source of inspiration for billions of individuals. Whether it’s a Catholic, a Born Again Christian, or whatever, they have bettered themselves because of their faith in Christ.

Christianity inspires because it offers the idea that everyone has a chance to be redeemed. While the world may be full of malice, and that malice may touch people, everyone and everything has the chance to be better. Because of this, the Christian faith is a great foundation for living a moral and ethical life.

Through the presence of the Holy Spirit, Christians empower themselves to overcome their weakness, to cultivate virtues, and to make something of their life.

How Jesus Christ Makes Us Better

At the heart of the Christian faith is the heart of God. Within, there is a vast repository, endless and ever-flowing, of love. God is love and He is infinite, and He reserves much of this love for humanity.

Thus, what most of what Christians do is done out of love–love for God, love for one’s self and love for humanity and the world. This unconditional love is best exemplified by the life of Jesus Christ. As the Son of God, there was no need to sacrifice himself, but he did. He put himself on the cross and died for the sins of humanity.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

This is greatly inspirational, pushing Christians to love others as themselves. Through the embrace of this love, Christians fill themselves with compassion, offering forgiveness and kindness to those around them. And like Christ, Christians should do all of these regardless of whoever the people are.

Inspired to Move Toward Holiness

The Christian faith emphasizes that all people, regardless of their faith, are on the path to holiness. Now, this is not the holiness of God, which cannot be reached, but rather, it is the striving to live a life that is in accordance with His will.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15

Believers are all called upon to overcome the limitations of their flesh, overcome sin, and become vessels for love, joy, and peace. Through this pursuit of holiness, Christians move with honesty and integrity.

Inspired to Move Toward Service

And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these.

Mark 12:31

As one of the most important commandments issued by Christ, there is a necessity to being neighborly and to contribute to the lives of others. Thus, Christ inspires Christians to live in the service of others. They express their outward love for God and their fellow human being through service.

Inspired to Move Toward Community

Christianity is an inherently communal faith. Who are they Christians for, if not for God and the world? Believers are always encouraged by their faith and by their priests to gather together and be one family. There is no community as supportive as that which is united by their faith in Christ.

Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

Proverbs 27:17

It is through fellowship with others of faith that one can find a wellspring of encouragement, wisdom, and a sense of belonging.

Surviving in the World Through Christ

Although believing in Christ and following his teachings affords believers a lot of benefits, Christians do not automatically become immune to suffering because of their faith. Yet, it is often through adopting the Christian framework that one can become more resilient in dealing with the obstacles of the world and coping with the adversity reality begets one.

Through their faith, believers find community and discover the strength and the hope within themselves and in God, persevering through the ills of the world and coming out the other end a better person.

There are a lot of Christian faith books out there, but Building Bridges Made in His Image by Yareni Beltran stands out because of its personal lessons and invaluable insights. Read it to get a rare perspective on what it means to be a Christian.
