Inspirational Poetry Books to Read That Will Uplift You
There are many inspirational poetry books to read that we could all add to our bookshelves so that we can digest some good literature.
As a poet and a lover of poetry myself, I’m always on the lookout for whatever poetry book releases are out there. While I was scouring through the Internet, news, and magazines for any updates on some poetry books, I came across Christina Trezevant McGriff’s poetry books “Simultaneously” and “From Small To Tall.” Both are such good reads that they made me ponder what literature is and its value.
I was then inspired to create a whole list of inspirational poem books, which is where we are now. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at some inspiring poetry books we can all indulge in!
“Simultaneously” and “From Small To Tall” by Christina Trezevant McGriff
These are the two books that I was previously talking about. Both of them have different and specific topics, but they’re very good poem books.
“Simultaneously” is a collection of poetry that depicts two epic pandemics that divided America concurrently in the latter half of 2020. A simple read that may be treasured that covers Black Lives Matter, racism, COVID-19, and the 45th presidential administration.
“From Small To Tall” is a collection of poetry that offers advice on negotiating life’s most important journey—growing from a kid to a responsible adult—that is inspirational, practical, educational, and spiritual.
If you get these books, you’re going to have a great time reading them. You might even want more poems from Christina, which we’ll all have to wait for when her next poem book drops. In the meantime, you can click here to buy a copy of the book.
“How Lovely the Ruins: Inspirational Poems and Words for Difficult Times” by Annie Chagnot, Emi Ikkanda, Elizabeth Alexander
This anthology is divided into segments based on a range of conflicts. I can confidently say that this is probably the most direct and literal translation of the subject matter, “uplifting poetry.”
These poems, penned by some of the greatest modern poets (Claude McKay, Tracy K. Smith, Charles Simic, and so on), provide a method to express your dissatisfaction, grief, wrath, helplessness, etc. All you have to do is pinpoint your inner conflict, and a poem will respond to you.
Poetry has the ability to both reflect your feelings and provide you with guidance. “With poetry on your side, you won’t have to be bothered about life’s hardships” is the book’s main message.
I had a great time reading this poem. Undoubtedly, it’s one of those “inspirational poetry books to read” that really stuck with me. If you’re looking for motivational poem books to add to your book collection, then this one is definitely for you.
“A Surprised Queenhood in the New Black Sun: The Life & Legacy of Gwendolyn Brooks” by Angela Jackson
In honor of Gwendolyn Brooks’ 100th birthday and a new anthology that explores Terrance Hayes’ “golden shovel” form, which is derived from Brooks’ poem, the Poetry Foundation requested its participants to record themselves reciting “We Real Cool” by the poet back in 2017.
In a brand-new biography, Angela Jackson carries on this celebration of Brooks’ rise to prominence as one of the country’s most avant-garde poets. Jackson navigates an arc of resilience in the midst of racial turmoil using poetry by Brooks.
Understanding Brooks is crucial, and her biography helps us comprehend why people have continued to appreciate her poetry so much.
“Devotions: The Selected Poems of Mary Oliver” by Mary Oliver
Mary Oliver’s direct and perceptive attitude to the natural environment is a thing to behold. Her self-selected collection of poetry, DEVOTIONS, is characterized by a calm curiosity about the natural world and the question of one’s place in it.
Oliver has the power to turn those who would never consider themselves poetry lovers. The poems in DEVOTIONS feel crucial to our real-life living; they’re available for anyone if they want them.

Poetry is an important part of literature because in it, people can showcase their condensed pieces that are jam-packed with emotions, experiences, and stories. As Robin Williams’s character in the film “Dead Poet’s Society” once said, “But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.“
I hope you enjoyed reading the list I’ve prepared for you. Be sure to check all of them out, and if you want more, read this article about the role of poets in society and how they inspire change in us!
