Ethics & Diversities Policies

The Lit Perspective is responsible for checking factual errors in stories and correcting them immediately so that the story’s conclusion clearly acknowledges the error. We will also be doing our best to correct typographical errors, but a few might slip by us, and we apologize for that in advance.

We want our reporters to call out factual inaccuracies whenever they notice them. If readers find a factual inaccuracy, kindly contact us at [email protected].

What are the responsibilities of the writers here at The Lit Perspective:

  • Assume accountability for the content’s dependability and accuracy, and make every effort to use the original sources.
  • Consider the context and, if needed, provide complete and pertinent context.
  • Only individuals who risk professional repercussions, bodily harm, or danger should be granted anonymity.
  • Give those who are the focus of news coverage (this pertains to authors or publishers) enough time to answer inquiries and a fair chance to provide quotes in reaction to a piece.
  • Make those in positions of authority responsible for their deeds and provide a voice to the voiceless.
  • Look for more diverse sources and voices on the topics we tackle.
  • Always seek opportunities to diversify those in our writing staff and reader base.
  • Be dedicated to establishing and preserving a welcoming and inclusive work environment.
  • Be transparent about paid content by clearly labeling sponsored articles (if any).
  • Never plagiarize and avoid it like the plague.
  • When covering minors, victims of sexual offenses, or those who have been deemed unable to give consent, our writers are required to exercise caution.
  • Steer clear of conflicts of interest and declare any that cannot be avoided.
  • Refuse presents or cash payments in exchange for reporting that could jeopardize our writers’ and staff’s credibility or integrity.
